Sony announced that they will be working on making ps2 games available to play on the ps4 via emulation and I am so excited! My ps2 was my favorite thing to play when I was younger even though I didn’t have many games for it. And to make things even better, Sony is actually requesting suggestions of which games their fans want to see come back to life. So here are my top picks:
Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2
This should be a no-brainer for Sony since they are in the process of making Kingdom Hearts 3 for the ps4 anyway. These games are so much fun and I think with a new generation of games, they should be included in the list.
Mortal Combat Armageddon
My favorite games tend to be the ones where I can customize my character and this game gave me so many options to do that. Mine was like a sexy ninja dressed in pink and yellow (probably a subconscious homage to the pink and yellow Power Rangers).
Final Fantasy X and X-2
Besides FF7 and FF9, these were my favorites because there was just so much to do. I spent hours playing Blitzball because it was so creative. And I don’t even like sports! Also, the storylines were pretty intricate and there were a few surprises that I didn’t see, despite being fairly intuitive.
The Tekken games
It doesn’t take many graphics to make something entertaining. Tekken was just an arcade game that I played with my dad when he came to see me and then I found it for my ps2. I had so much fun unlocking all the characters even though I only used a few of them when I played. Hey, we all have our favorites!
Dark Cloud 2
So cute! There are town building features that you can customize. It also has a really unique design style and the combat was a lot of fun, as well.
Crash Bandicoot
I have so many memories playing this series of games with my cousins. It was practically a bonding experience for us. So many hours of my life was dedicated to that game and although it was simplistic, it was great.
Dance Dance Revolution
I spent hours playing DDR and competing with my friends for the best score. We actually got pretty good and whenever we played at theme parks or arcades, a crowd would gather around us. Also, it was easy to work up a sweat while playing it. Maybe that should be my new workout plan!
Guitar Hero
Okay, I know these games weren’t that great, but everyone owned it and I know we all had competitions to see who could play best. I even had it at my afterprom. And some of the songs on the game I never would have been introduced to if I hadn’t played the game.
The Legend of Spyro
Who didn’t love Spyro as a kid? I think it was one of the most popular games when I was little. These reboots of the original games also used celebrities’ voices for the characters, including Elijah Wood and Gary Oldman.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
This arcade style fighting game has incited several heated discussions between my boyfriend and I, because I’m not very good at it and he knows all of the combos. I very rarely win which bruises my ego. But it’s a lot fun when I do and there are a ton of characters to choose from, as well.
I know my picks wouldn’t be very popular just because there are so many other popular games out there. But these are the ones that I hold near and dear to my heart and would love to see them come back. What do you think? If you have any suggestions, go and tweet @eurogamer which games you would like to play again!
